Get To Know The Artist Behind the Jewelry

As an artist and SCUBA diver, Randy Klein-Gross, the owner of Lionfish Jewelry works hard volunteering her time with non-profit organizations along with hunting lionfish around the Florida Keys. After hunting the lionfish, carefully, she removes the spines and tail, donating the body to science or to make a delicious meal like lionfish ceviche. The spines can be left natural or dyed a variety of colors.

Lionfish are not welcome in the Atlantic Ocean and as SCUBA divers ,it is our duty to try to eliminate them from our waters. Here are the reasons why.

Lionfish:
...eat native fish and crustaceans in large quantities, including both ecologically and economically important species.
...are not known to have any native predators.
...are equipped with venomous dorsal, ventral and anal spines, which deter predators and can cause painful wounds to humans.
...reproduce by releasing 30,000 eggs every 2-4 days.
...are relatively resistant to parasites.
...are fast growing, able to outgrow native species with whom they compete for food and space.

A portion of the profits are donated to organizations to save our oceans.
