Gold Coast Scuba in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea hosts hands-on training from Professional Scuba Inspectors (PSI-PCI), the industry-recognized program for inspecting and servicing scuba cylinders. Whether you work at a dive center or fill station, run a dive operation, or want to understand the tanks you dive with, these courses give you the knowledge and practical skills to handle high-pressure cylinders safely.
Choose your course
Visual Cylinder Inspection (VCI) Certification – $375
PSI-PCI's core program. This full-day course covers the regulations and fundamentals of conducting visual inspections of solid-wall and composite SCUBA and SCBA cylinders.
- Identifying cylinder types, markings and materials (steel, aluminum and composite)
- Spotting corrosion, damage and wear that can make a cylinder unsafe to fill
- Inspecting cylinder threads, neck and valve interface
- The regulations and standards that apply to cylinder inspectors
- Hands-on practice inspecting real cylinders
Who can take it: anyone 16 or older. No previous cylinder inspection experience is needed.
Certification: PSI-PCI Visual Cylinder Inspector, valid for 3 years per federal training requirements. Inspectors renew with PSI-PCI's refresh course.
Valve Repair Technician (VRT) – $225
Learn valve types, valve repair, and valve care and maintenance, so you can service the cylinder valves you inspect. Students receive a PSI-PCI certificate of completion.
Oxygen Cylinder Cleaning Technician (OCCT) – $225
Inspection and cleaning training specific to cylinders used in oxygen and enriched air (nitrox) service. A 2-3 hour course. You must be a current PSI-PCI Visual Cylinder Inspector, so take it with or after the VCI course. Students receive a PSI-PCI certificate of completion.
